Africare continues its new Pass It On! Campaign with a spotlight story about one of our own: Alassane Aguili, Program manager in Africare-Mali .
Tucked away in Northern Mali near the fabled city of
Timbuktu, villages in the Circle of Goundam are thriving.
“They
are growing rice, they are growing wheat, they have micro-credit programs,
nutrition and health programs… and all in the middle of the desert,” remarks Alassane Aguili, program manager for Africare-Mali,
a leading development organization working to improve the quality of life in
Africa. “This makes me proud because
they’re moving forward.”
Alassane has seen the transformation of Goundam first hand.
He grew up just 12 kilometers outside the Circle and remembers seeing Africare
trucks travel to and from his village some 20 years ago.

Africare's Approach
Africare helps Africa. A leader among private, charitable U.S. organizations assisting Africa, Africare is also the oldest and largest African-American led organization in the field — and Africa is Africare's specialty. Africare programs are in the following broad areas: health and HIV/AIDS, food security and agriculture, water and sanitation, humanitarian and emergency assistance, environmental management, women's empowerment, literacy and vocational training, microenterprise development, and civil society development and governance.
You can give back AND tell the world how they can help with one of Africare’s color-themed t-shirts! The t-shirts come in a variety of colors and themes that spread the Africare mission. Get your shirt today at www.supportafricare.org
