Achieving results is at the core of Africare’s approach to development, as this is the true measure of how well we are accomplishing our vision to improve the lives of those most in need. Our emphasis on ownership is at the cornerstone of sustainability and is critical to bringing about results that will endure well beyond the life of the Africare-supported project.
We do this by fostering a culture of “results achievement” within the organization, developing a strong commitment to monitoring and evaluating our programs and by starting our projects with defining indicators and targets of success to establish baseline performance levels before we initiate our work. During implementation, we gather data to track progress regularly towards the benchmarks that have been established and we review this data to make adjustments to our implementation strategies when necessary. At the end of a project, we conduct evaluations – mostly third party – to assess impact, draw in-depth conclusions and identify lessons that can be factored into the design of future projects.
