PEOPLE WITH A PURPOSEA $25 MILLION CHALLENGE |
A Message from Valerie Dickson-Horton:
Will you give up a cup of coffee, a latte, a gallon of gasoline, or lunch once a quarter to keep hope alive? If so, join Africare’s community of “People with a Purpose.”
The inspiration for this campaign came from successful fundraising by broadly appealing to the American public. But how do you reach the millions of Americans and Africans interested in Africa who would be willing to continuously support Africare’s programs? African-Americans and all Americans need to know there is a stellar organization improving lives in Africa and they MUST commit to keeping it viable and robust.
My advice to others would be, once you learn about Africare’s 38 years of experience – the respect they have earned for outstanding work, the intimate knowledge about Africa, and highly dedicated staff – share this “good news” and appeal to friends and family to support this legacy institution.
I know everyone wants to give hope and help to someone – Africare can be their personal agent for positive change on the continent.
Funds raised through this campaign, no matter how small, will be used to build the Africare endowment fund. It will spire and build a network of people willing to give small amounts of money each quarter, year after year, so Africare is able to implement worthy development programs, complementary to U.S. government foreign assistance and independent of U.S. government funding. Let’s help share the development burden by personally supporting Africare with funding.
Giving refreshes the soul. Build on what Americans do best – we care by giving. Join the ranks of people with a purpose giving hope and help through your financial support of Africare, your agent for change.
Thank you,
Valerie
